3: 1 as being the example reel. What this number means is that this Steez has a 6. 3 to at least one gear ratio. In other words, every full turn of the handle crank results in the line spool rotating 6. 3 times. If you can visualize a ten speed bike while using the row of gears over the back tire and as soon as you switch gears the peddling either gets harder or easier that is simply switching the supplies ratio. The larger the gear the less you have to peddle to make the back tire go around one full turn. The baitcasting reel works on the same principle except you don’t get to change the gearing for an individual reel instead you have to change the reel if you would like fast or slower retrieves.
So what difference does this generate? It all boils as a result of how much line must take in on each turn with the reel handle. The two factors that determine which were gear ratio and the length of the line spool. The larger spool the more line that can be purchased in on each crank of the handle. Basically this means that I can fish more territory with more casts if I work with a 6. 3 or better gear ratio than I can if I use with that, say on a reel like the Daiwa Sol 4. 9 baitcasting fly fishing reel. Someone has said that they can get 25 to help 30 more casts daily by using a 6. two: 1 reel over a 5: 1 or lower. That just might mean more fish in the boat.
Many times you will want some sort of slower reel retrieve, such as while you are using a crankbait or a slower motion bait, the slower retrieve will give more life like measures. But for throwing a buzz-bait or waking spinner bait the faster better. In fact a 7. 1 works great for this. Remember it is much easier to slow down some sort of faster reel than it’s the speed up a reduced one. Another reason for a faster reel would be to take up slack line quicker causing more hooked fish. When a fish runs on the boat after being hooked a fast retrieve can stay informed about it keeping your brand tight.

So, what is the easiest way to tackle these buggers? First, you’ll want to make sure it’s set up correct. Let’s adjust the brakes on the system to help alleviate some bird’s nests.
Start learning the baitcasting reel with a 3/8 oz. or some sort of 1/2 oz. weight and soon you get the hang of it.
Put that break at it’s maximum setting, usually 10. Now, adjust the spool tension as tight precisely as it will go (usually relating to the right side with virtually no numbers). Hold the rod and reel straight out in front of you and click the line release button allowing the lure to fall lower to the ground.
