Insurance stickers 1992-2007 thickness

This is what 15 years of layered insurance stickers look like. We’ve had the same license plate for three different cars, starting with my wife’s 1992 Ford Escort when it was brand new. I finally peeled them off before I put on the 2008 sticker.
Do the layers get bigger towards the outside and are you able to tell when the car had a particularly bad year?
Not in this case: they’re bonsai stickers.
